Who is the Modern African Gentleman?
And do we know him? We take a closer look at what it takes to be a Modern African Gentleman.
The Modern African Gentleman
Over the years, the MINI brand has come to represent creativity, authenticity, design and freedom across the globe. Yet another step in that legacy is the MINI Clubman Modern African Gentlemen Edition – a tribute to the thinkers, shapers and risk-takers, who are leading their own African revolution.
It started as a conversation that spread across the country and into the consciousness of everyday South Africans. Kaya FM, Gagasi FM and Heart FM posed some questions to their listeners: What does it take to be a Modern African Gentleman? Do we know him? What does he stand for? And their listeners answered… shaping the vision for this history-making model.
Traditional yet unconventional
The Modern African Gentleman is rooted in culture and heading for the top. Powerful but humble, rising up and raising up – traditional yet unconventional. These aspects live together and next to each other. Like an African Renaissance in flux, the limited-edition MINI Clubman earned its name from the people.
The MINI Clubman Modern African Gentlemen Edition is defined by its unique character and celebrated across the nation. Combining culture with craft, it’s a vehicle for those who live in two worlds at once.
It’s art in motion
MINI teamed up with leading African visionaries and creatives to interpret these findings and translate them into three vibrant design variations. Baba Tjeko, acclaimed for his Litema-inspired artworks, has lent his creative flare to the MINI Clubman Modern African Gentlemen Edition, along with award-winning director Tebogo Malope, who is currently filming Africa’s first Netflix special, and R & B star Langa Mavuso, popular for his hit song ‘Sunday Blues’. The result? Art in motion with all the vigour and finesse you’d expect from a MINI.
The MINI Clubman Modern African Gentlemen Edition
While the exterior boasts custom African designs on the roof and mirror covers, and 18-inch star-spoke black rims, the interior is not to be forgotten. Both the driver and passengers are in for a truly unique expression of craftsmanship, with state-of-the-art features like the MINI Yours Soda Sport leather steering wheel, customised Modern African Gentlemen branded doorsills and Piano Black highlights illuminating the interior.
The limited-edition MINI Clubman Modern African Gentlemen Edition, available in Cooper and Cooper S variants, is poised to make a bold yet boutique entrance into the South African market, with only 20 units available for purchase.
